Help for Heroes

Wakinyan is a Lakota
(Teton Sioux) word for "Thunder".

In a mythical context,
the word is taken to
mean "Thunder bird".

We use this as a logo
for our bike club.

And it Still clashes with Stormin...

It doesn't matter what we do, it always clashes. You'd think we talked to the organisers and planned it. But we didn't.

(Actually, we DO talk to a couple of the organisers, but it's usually over a beer or twelve, so somehow we never get round to discussing our respective rallies).

So despite our obvious psychic link to the hardy Northerners, the Wakinyan Rally will happen over the weekend of August 31st to September 2nd 2012. And you'll never guess where it's gonna be this year. Unless you're psychic too...

Birch Coppice Social Welfare Club. That's on Watling Street, Dordon, Tamworth, Staffordshire B78 1SY.

Does that sound familiar to you? Are you psychic? Or did you come to the first couple of Wakinyan's?

Yep, we're going back to Birch Coppice. It's a great site...loads of camping room, so bring your gazebos, sofas, bouncey castles, or whatever. Or friends if you have any.

Just in case you've never been, or were too drunk to remember, you'll find there will be a proper room in which the bands will be playing and proper toilets in which we'll all be..(ahem, sorry). Plus great chuck-wagon as usual. All the things you have come to expect at the Wakinyan. But better. Coz it's newer. And it's this year's..

We are limited to just 200 drunken revellers in the room where the bands will be playing, so buy your tickets soon! Just in case...

Midland Freewheelers

This year we shall be donating any profit we can wangle, to the Midland Freewheelers, who are part of the national Blood Bikes charity.

Midland Freewheelers (and all Blood Bikes) provide an out-of-hours 'medical essentials' courier service to hospitals and other health institutions within their area. They carry urgently needed medical items such as blood, biological samples, medical notes, x-rays and scans.

Have a look at their website here and I'm sure you'll agree it's a worthy cause...maybe you can volunteer too?...
