Why have we moved the rally?
Unfortunatley, we were not able to hold this year's Wakinyan Rally at the previous venue. The site will be undergoing a huge make-over (in trendy TV-parlance) for a few months, so the owners cannot guarantee that everything will be finished in time for the Rally. We don't want to have to try and party on a building-site, so we've decided to look elsewhere. If things work out, we may return to the original site in the future.
At one time we were hoping to hold the Rally at a Sports complex in Lichfield, but there was a last minute hitch that I'm sure you will all agree, was just too much to live with...all vehicles and tents would have had to be off the pitches by 10am Sunday morning. I don't know about you, but I've never had a deadline for departure before - and I don't want one now! We felt that was unacceptable, so we moved on.
The problem with sports facilities, is the fact that they have football, rugby, cricket or whatever 'seasons' to work to, so fitting in a Rally can be difficult, to say the least. So we've canned that idea for the meantime. If we wish to use a sports complex in the future, we would have to move the Rally to the end of August, rather than early September. If you'd like to tell me your views on this, I'd be delighted to hear from you, after all, we're doing this for your enjoyment. (And to raise a few quid for good causes).
So where's the rally?
The Fox & Dogs Inn, Orton Road, Warton, Tamworth, Staffordshire B79 0HT.
It's about 4.5 miles from the M42 Junction 10, so it's a bit further than the last venue (which you'll probably pass on your way), but not too far. Have a look at the Multimap thingeymabob below, for directions.
So, we're going to hold the Rally at a village pub, with a big field attached. It's not quite as big as the field we are used to, but this one won't have a bunch of idiots chasing an inflated pig-skin round it. It might mean you can't spread yourselves out quite as much as you have in the past - but many of you have said you want us to keep the Rally small and cosy. Well, it'll be cosy, but as we're all getting to know each other quite well now, it won't be a problem. And you won't have to walk as far to the bar - well, two bars, actually!
The Landlady - and the locals we've drank with (some of whom are bikers) - are all well up for the event! Their attitude is (refreshingly) positive, they can't wait for us all to get there, so we're sure you'll all have a fantastic time.
We will still have the 200 limit, as previous, so click over to the tickets page (you can even use your PayPal account now) to secure your tickets.
